FR: Cistre, violoncelle, viole de gambe

Après des études de violoncelle, Ronan s’initie à la cornemuse écossaise avec Pierre Gallais, puis à la guitare électrique et acoustique. Ronan découvre les musiques traditionnelles irlandaise et bretonne avec Loic Bléjean. C’est alors qu’il adoptele cistre, instrument cousin des mandolines etbouzoukis. Musicien voyageur, Ronan puise son inspiration dans de nombreux styles musicaux, de la musique indienne au jazz, en passant par les musiques anciennes, orientales, latines, africaines ou rock. Outre le cistre et le violoncelle, il a pu apprendre le sarangi (vièle indienne) auprès de Santosh Mishra à Varanasi, et la viole de gambe avec François Koelh.
Ce parcours éclectique l’amène à transmettre ses connaissances au cours de nombreux stages d’harmonie et de musique d’ensemble dédiés à des publics divers depuis 2004 (Ty Kendalc’h, CEFEDEM, Studi ha Dudi, Petra Neue, Mod All), et à participer à l’équipe pédagogique du Pont Supérieur à Rennes pour les musiques traditionnelles (préparation au DNSPM).

Après avoir commencé avec Skeduz et Dibenn, il se produit aujourd’hui principalement avec Annie Ebrel, Hamon-Martin Quintet, Sylvain Barou, Istan, Triptyque et le Kraken Consort. Il joue aussi avec les groupes Kejaj, Lyannaj, Skeduz, Nevolen, et avec Paddy Keenan.

EN: Cistrum, cello, viola da gamba

After studying the cello, Ronan learnt the Scottish bagpipes with Pierre Gallais, then the electric and acoustic guitar. Ronan discovered traditional Irish and Breton music with Loic Bléjean. It was then that he adopted the cistre, an instrument related to the mandolins and the bouzoukis. A travelling musician, Ronan draws his inspiration from many musical styles, from Indian music to jazz, via ancient, oriental, Latin, African or rock music. In addition to the cistrum and the cello, he learned the sarangi (Indian fiddle) from Santosh Mishra in Varanasi, and the viola da gamba from François Koelh.
This eclectic path has led him to pass on his knowledge during numerous harmony and ensemble music courses dedicated to various audiences since 2004 (Ty Kendalc'h, CEFEDEM, Studi ha Dudi, Petra Neue, Mod All), and to participate in the teaching team of the Pont Supérieur in Rennes for traditional music (preparation for the DNSPM).

After starting with Skeduz and Dibenn, he now performs mainly with Annie Ebrel, Hamon-Martin Quintet, Sylvain Barou, Istan, Triptyque and the Kraken Consort. He also plays with the groups Kejaj, Lyannaj, Skeduz, Nevolen, and with Paddy Keenan.
